The event
will be held with live acoustic guitar, and we encourage you
to purchase a cup of the Wild Hare’s coffee while you
browse the displays. The entire shop will be dedicated to this
event between 11am and 4pm Sunday Dec. 2nd.

These pieces are not the authors works themselves, but their personal
letters, notes on their works, some illustrations for their work
and a wide variety of other single page documents. As an example,
we have one piece from C.S. Lewis’s hand written notes showing
where year one of Narnia is intended to be 1900 of English time.
He then outlines a number of major events in Narnia, dates them
both in Narnia and England. This kind of information cannot be
gleaned from his books alone and changes the way one thinks about
his work. You should really see this exhibit!
These pieces are on loan to the Gathering from Karpeles Manuscript
Museum of Dultuh. The Gathering is hosting this even in the belief
that education bolsters true faith. And we see that these writers,
for better or for worse have become part of the human conversation
that creates and shapes culture. The Gathering invites you to “tell
us your story.” Join us as a community of believers seeking
truth wherever we may find it.
What do we mean “Reproductions?” These are recreations
done at the museums, to safely do exhibitions of this nature. One
obviously can’t scan or photocopy the originals as the intense
light damages the manuscript. So, museums use a very large mounted
camera to literally photograph the documents in exquisite detail.
The reproductions look like the real thing in every way and may
in fact be difficult to discern from the originals without handling
them tactilely. This is valuable as each stroke of the pen is clear,
and each nuance of the page from stains to smudges is obvious and
warming.
